Positive Choices
Under our pep+ sustainability agenda, we are working on robust mechanisms to create healthier choices in our convenient foods and beverages portfolio for consumers.
Our global targets in our Positive Choices pillar are designed with a focus on “planet + people” strategy as we leverage our scaled brands to embody and amplify positive outcomes for our consumers and our communities.
We are offering snacks made in healthier oils and drinks that have reduced sugar levels. We are also dedicatedly working on reducing sodium levels in our snacks. The aim is to offer all products with lower sodium, saturated fat and sugar content while maintaining the same great taste of the brands that our consumers love and enjoy.
Sodium reduction
At PepsiCo, Winning with PepsiCo Positive means delivering sustainable growth by investing in a healthier future for people and the planet. Under the company’s vision, we are committed to sodium reduction in our convenient foods without compromising on the flavors for our consumers.
Our goal is to ensure at least three-quarters of our convenient foods portfolio volume does not exceed 1.3 milligrams of sodium per calorie by 2025.
PepsiCo Pakistan’s current sodium compliance is at 80% (Na-1.3 mg/kcal) as per the company’s internal guidelines. In 2023, we are committed to external sodium guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) to deliver on the production of reduced sodium snacks.
Saturated fat reduction
We are dedicated to bringing snacks made in healthier oils to our consumers. For food products that we offer, our goal is to ensure that at least three-quarters of our food portfolio volume does not exceed 1.1 grams of saturated fat per 100 Calories by 2025.
Sugar reduction
We are dedicatedly working on reducing sugar content in our company’s beverage portfolio while maintaining the same great taste of our iconic brands. Our goal is to ensure that at least two-thirds of our beverage portfolio volume will have no more than 100 Calories from added sugars per 12oz. serving by 2025.
To achieve this target, we are working on broadening our no-sugar beverages portfolio, expanding our low-sugar product variants including hydration brands, and accelerating the rollout of our medium-calorie products.
